💙💙💙I just bought new lipstick and razor blades. I feel so shallow and vapid for it, but I also know it won't make a dent on my large expenses, such as rent and loans. People from older generations are always telling us to just spend less on Starbucks, but you'd need to buy 10 coffees a day to waste a month's rent. It's so insane.

Like Jaynie, I also have family members that struggle with addiction and there's literally nothing I can do. I completely understand her resentment and frustration toward her brother because I have felt the same way (like, she can't seriously be expected to put her life ob hold to deal with the latest crisis when theres always another one). You feel like you should be able to save the people you love, but without the resources, you're just stuck.

2. mal blum - san cristobal. i recently discovered mal blum and their music through tumblr! this song has been the one i’ve put on repeat the most bc it paints such a great picture. i’ve been really jamming to songs that feature an acoustic guitar and vocals lately- the stripped down feel gets me. fav lyric: “i found religion in a dirty bathroom stall | in the back of a liquor store in that mini mall” 3. the all-american rejects - another heart calls. this is kind of a cheat bc i haven't been playing this song a lot but it was literally the only song i listened to summer of 2010. my girlfriend of 6 years had left me for another gal and i was devastated lmao. so i drowned my sorrows in emo music. [cause i never grew out of my emo phase, obviously.] i still listen to this song once or twice a summer to relive those moments and to be thankful that i'm not the same person anymore. (: fav lyric: "i'll never ask for anyone but you" 4. the paper kites - bloom. this song came up on a fanmix for life is strange and i fell in loooove. again with the soft guitar and vocals haha! i have a type. this song is so lovely to sit on my front porch and write to. especially since we've been having a rainy summer! fav lyric: "can i be close to you?" 5. lewis del mar - painting (masterpiece). another genre jump! i love the bounce, the colour, the lyrics, the message, everything! my art major heart flutters when i hear this song.  i literally dance in my underwear to this song ALL THE TIME. it's embarrassing. i heard it used in a commercial recently [during a brief stint when we had cable] and i may have cried a lil. fav lyric: "throw it like pollock | fuck the apartment!" 6. danny malone - limbo. this is a bit of a cheat, too. i saw them in concert last october [they opened for blue october] and was blown away by their set. danny's voice sends shivers through me, honestly. the mysterious, far-away sound of the song creeps me out but simultaneously makes me feel comforted. the song is just beautiful. fav lyric: "limbo | for reasons unknown" 7. stephen - crossfire. back when the show eyewitness was a thing, this song was used in one of the episodes! it encompassed the show SO WELL. the music in the song takes me through waves of emotions, too. it's just put together incredibly. and that VOICE! i'm in love. truly. fav lyric: "i'd trade my luck to know | why he's caught in the crossfire | and i'm here waking up | to the sun and the sounds of birds" 8. the smashing pumpkins - 1979. i've been going through a 90s alt rock phase recently. and by recently i mean my whole fucking life. this song is everything 90s to me. i can remember driving to work with my dad and hearing this song on like, every radio station. also i put together a playlist for something i'm writing [i definitely have a tag called the prudent hold their tongues] and the other songs on the playlist are based around the vibe of 1979. (: fav lyric: "morphine city slipping dues down to see | that we don't even care as restless as we are" 9. lorde - writer in the dark.
